- On 4 August 2020, Mayor Bill de Blasio appointed Dr. Dave A Chokshi as New York City’s new health commissioner.
- A 39-year-old Indian-origin physician who is an expert in public health was praised for his immense contribution to fight against COVID-19.
- In 2019, he was featured by Crain’s New York Business on its 40 under 40.
- In July, he was recognized as one of New York’s 100 most politically powerful Asian Americans.
- One of the key highlights in his career, when President Barack Obama appointed him to the Advisory Group on Prevention, Health Promotion, and Integrative and Public Health in 2016.
Vivek Hallegere Murthy: The First US Surgeon General of Indian Origin
- On 22 April 2015, Dr. Vivek Hallegere Murthy was appointed as the 19th United States Surgeon General.
- He is the first Indian American to be appointed on this post.
- Murthy is the youngest Surgeon General in the history of America.
- In 2011, U.S. President Barack Obama appointed Dr. Murthy to serve on the U.S. Presidential Advisory Council on Prevention, Health Promotion, and Integrative and Public Health within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

- She is currently working at South Windsor Hospital in Connecticut, USA.
- Madhusudan graduated from JSS Medical College, a constituent college of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research in 1990.
- As a sign of honor, over 100 cars were parade in front of her residency.
- Karnataka Medical Education Minister Dr. Sudhakar K tweeted the viral video, “As I head to Mysuru, happy to share a video of Uma Madhusudhan, Mysuru origin Doctor in the US being honored in front of her house by grateful patients.”
