Alliance to be finalized later this Month
Triumph, a British Motorcycle brand is all set to formally announce its alliance with Bajaj Auto Limited, a leading Indian Motorcycle brand. While the decision of the collaboration was announced far back in 2017, it is yet to be signed. And that is likely to be announced later this month. The kind of Motorcycles that is going to be developed by this collaboration is yet to be revealed. The details are expected to be outspoken after the finalization of formal agreement.
Motorcycles to be manufactured by Bajaj Auto
Triumph has been conducting early testing of prototypes for some time now. As company does not have a single model in the 300-500 cc segments, the announcement regarding the introduction of the range of new motorcycles might be made. In addition, the agreement between the two will be royalty-based. The intellectual property rights will be retained by both the brands. A new range of middleweight motorcycles in 300-350 cc range based on a single engine platform might be developed by the two brands. The bikes will be manufactured by Bajaj Auto at its manufacturing facility in Chakan. They will have Triumph brand, and design and engineering will be from Hinckley.
Triumph Motorcycles to be Made For India, Global Markets
Triumph is most likely to introduce and market these bikes in India. However, Bajaj Auto will also gain strength in emerging markets. It is expected that the new middle-sized triumph bikes will not be made for developed markets like the US and Europe. Perhaps, it will target emerging markets like India, South East Asia and Latin America. Strategically, this is an important milestone for both brands to expand their global footprint in a more accessible and affordable motorcycle segment.
