IBM integrated system for any environment
IBM has declared that it is freeing its Watson AI services to work across any cloud platform. At the opening of IBM’s Think event in San Francisco, IBM announced that the Watson Artificial Intelligence services are available to everyone. IBM Watson services will be integrated with IBM Cloud Private for data. The integrated system will run on any environment, whether that be on-premise or in the field or across any private, public or hybrid-multi cloud. Moreover, the companies can now utilize Watson AI services for their data.
The system will provide services such as the Watson Assistant and Watson OpenScale. Watson Assistant is an offering for building conversational interfaces into any application, device, or channel. Watson OpenScale is the open platform for businesses to extend AI enterprise-wide.
Watson available to everyone
The integrated system will allow Watson customers to do more with the platform. Till now, the platform has been limited to IBM’s own cloud. Therefore, many users had to store and manage their data across multiple isolated systems and with different suppliers.
Rob Thomas, General Manager, IBM Data and AI, said, “Businesses have largely been limited to experimenting with AI in siloes due to the limitations caused by cloud provider lock-in of their data.” Furthermore, he stated, “With most large organizations storing data across hybrid cloud environments, they need the freedom and choice to apply AI to their data wherever it is stored. By breaking open that siloed infrastructure we can help businesses accelerate their transformation through AI.”
IBM’s growth in cloud and analytics businesses
IBM wants to finalize the $34bn acquisition of open-source software firm Red Hat. So, Watson can become more accessible to developers around the world. It relies on an open-source software package known as Kubernetes to make the links to rival clouds. In the last few years, IBM has continued to boost its faster-growing cloud and analytics businesses while moving away from slumping hardware products and traditional software offerings. IBM provides enterprises with a full spectrum of tools for developing and running AI models using structured and unstructured data. Besides that, it gives monitoring and life cycle management suite for their data.
