When it comes to gaming, deciding what device is best has always been a source of contention. Whether you’re playing an intense one person shooter game or playing a casino game, what device you play on can have a serious impact on your experience.

That’s why we’ll be looking through the differences when it comes to gaming on apps and gaming via a browser so you can make an informed decision.

Differences between app and browser for mobile gaming

1. Apps can be personalised

One of the main differences between gaming on an app and gaming on a browser is the ability to personalise. On a mobile gaming app, there is the opportunity to tailor your app specifically to you.

You can choose your favourite types of games so that they will be the games that are recommended to you. Your app will also learn about you as you continue to play. It will recognise what games you prefer depending on what you play the most often.

On an app, you have the opportunity to set a limit for how much time you spend on there every day. This way, you have a better control over how long you spend playing. It’s easy to get carried away when you’re involved in a game. So, having an app limit means that you don’t spend too much time on a game.

Your location will also dictate what you see on the app. If there are adverts on the gaming app you’re using, those will be tailored to where you are in the country. There wouldn’t be any point in seeing adverts for something happening in a city that’s hundreds of miles away.

Therefore, adverts are tailored specifically for where you are. This makes them more relevant for you and you’d be more likely to be interested in them.

2. Notifications

Another perk of playing games via a mobile app is the notifications you can enable to remind you of any large tournaments or games that are taking place. Notifications are used by a lot of gaming providers but are mostly used for the mobile casino industry.

A lot of the online casino providers will send reminders out to their players of large upcoming jackpot games and prizes. Casino providers also typically offer bonuses to their mobile players, they will remind players of any bonuses and promotions available to redeem when playing at their app to encourage users to continue to visit the app and play.

3. Ability to play offline

A big difference between gaming on an app and gaming on a browser is the ability to play offline. When you play on a browser, you have to be connected to the internet at all times in order to play.

However, some gaming apps will have the ability to let you play if you’re offline as well. This means that it doesn’t matter if you’ve run out of internet or you’re stuck on the underground, you can still get a game in to pass the time.

This ability to play offline does give apps the upper hand as you’re not as limited to where you can play. It means that you can always get a game in, no matter where you are and what the signal is like.

4. Different speeds

Gaming on a browser tends to be a little slower. This is partially because it needs that constant internet connection in order to work. Therefore, there’s a lot more to process and this takes more time.

Another reason that this happens is where the data is stored. Apps are able to store all the information it needs onto the phone itself. Whereas, when you game on a browser, there is nowhere for the data to be stored. It needs to be loaded and processed each time you play a game.

This is why it’s so important to have a good internet connection when you’re gaming. There’s nothing more frustrating than trying to play your favourite game and encountering the loading symbol multiple times throughout the game.

It’s another reason why it’s important to have a good laptop or computer for gaming. The speed of your processor and the capacity of your laptop or computer will have a massive impact on your gaming experience.

If you’re unable to upgrade your laptop, it might impact how much you enjoy your time gaming. This is where gaming on your mobile app can take the upper hand.

5. Size of device

In terms of practicality, playing on a mobile device is a lot easier. More often than not, people game on their phones which you’re able to hold in the palm of your hand. When you’re finished, you can simply slot your phone into your pocket and away you go.

However, this is not the case when it comes to gaming via browsers. You’ll need a laptop or maybe a tablet if you’re lucky in order to game via browser. These aren’t the most practical unless you’re just hanging out at home.

If you’re wanting to game on the go, your best bet is to opt for a gaming app on your phone.

Different mobile devices offer very different gaming experiences. Whatever device you choose to game on will depend on what matters most to you. And at the end of the day, as long as you’re enjoying your game time, it doesn’t matter which device you choose to use!
