India’s global image as a tech powerhouse continues to grow, with Virgin Atlantic CEO Shai Weiss announcing an expanded collaboration with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The deepened TCS Virgin Atlantic partnership will focus on leveraging artificial intelligence to transform operations and customer experience across the airline’s global footprint.
“India has moved from being an outsourcing destination to becoming a vital source of innovation,” Weiss said during a business engagement event in New Delhi. “Our partnership with TCS is a clear example of how Indian expertise is now driving digital leadership across industries.”
AI at the Core of the New Phase
The TCS Virgin Atlantic partnership has been in place for over a decade, but the new phase signals a shift from support services to strategic co-innovation. TCS will deploy advanced AI models to improve key areas such as real-time passenger service, predictive maintenance, and operations analytics.
According to Weiss, “This next chapter in our partnership is about creating intelligent systems that make travel more seamless and personalized. With TCS’s deep AI capabilities and India’s rapidly growing tech ecosystem, we’re confident in the future we’re building together.”
TCS will also establish dedicated AI development and digital engineering hubs in India to support this expansion. The move aligns with India’s larger role as a global center for artificial intelligence, data science, and digital transformation.
India’s Role in Shaping the Future of Tech
India’s tech evolution is not limited to large corporations. With over 110,000 startups and government programs like Digital India, Startup India, and IndiaAI, the country is rapidly becoming a leader in global digital infrastructure.
“This is no longer a support ecosystem. India is leading in areas like generative AI, multilingual large language models, and AI ethics,” said Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and IT, in a recent policy forum.
The TCS Virgin Atlantic partnership is one among many examples where India’s capabilities are moving upstream in the global value chain—from executing solutions to designing them.
A Growing Market with Strategic Value
Virgin Atlantic’s confidence in India extends beyond the tech sector. The airline has ramped up operations in the country, adding capacity and exploring new routes.
“We see India as a strategic market not just for travel but for technology leadership,” Weiss noted. “The quality of thinking, the speed of execution, and the innovative mindset here are exactly what global enterprises need.”
He emphasized that the TCS Virgin Atlantic partnership isn’t just about cost efficiency—it’s about transformation. “Our collaboration is delivering smarter systems, more resilient operations, and a better customer journey—powered by AI designed and engineered in India.”
Outlook: Strategic Collaborations Define India’s Tech Moment
As India continues to strengthen its digital infrastructure and foster AI talent, partnerships like the one between TCS and Virgin Atlantic are becoming blueprints for cross-border tech collaboration.
With both companies committed to long-term innovation, the TCS Virgin Atlantic partnership reflects a broader trend: India is no longer a backend—it’s at the frontlines of global digital transformation.
