Adidas and Prada announce new sailing footwear partnership

Adidas is teaming up with Prada to produce a limited edition of footwear

The Italian luxury fashion house, Prada and industry leading sportswear brand, Adidas have joined forces to start new collaborative journey. This collaboration based on authentic fusion of fashion and sport, has generated an exclusive limited edition collection of footwear for men and women entirely made in Italy by Prada. The aim of this partnership is to investigate the empires of tradition, technology and innovation and to challenge conventional wisdom through unexpected strategies.

The new vision draws inspiration from the rich legacies of both brands to re-engineer timeless icons, and leverages the houses technological footprint to innovate. From this strategic collaboration, both the companies will be developing a dynamic structure composed of key milestones.

The deal extends Prada’s involvement in sailing, the company sponsors the Prada’s Luna Rosa sailing team, which is fully owned by its chief executive Patrizio Bertelli and has a title sponsorship deal with America’s cup competition. These two companies’ collection will launch soon with two styles of trainers. They will also launch sailing footwear in 2020.

To release innovation and creativity in the sport industry

Both Prada and Adidas are specialised in their respective fields. Together, they share and combine different facts and technology, along with universal aim of material creativity and continual design evolution.

This collaboration is built on Adidas’ sporting heritage and visionary approach to technological development merges with Prada’s world-renowned history in leather-goods and incomparable perspective on luxury and quality.

With each partner bringing a unique perspective to a conversion founded on mutual exploration and the research for new boundaries. For Adidas, Prada is acting as a laboratory for ideas and will bring a new age of creativity.

The deal puts Prada and Adidas in a position to capitalize on the presenting lines between luxury goods and street wear. For Prada, it is opportunity to expand the casual sporty lifestyle offering that it has been working to attract new customer.
