Reliance Jio’s Network will play a key role pushing Reliance retail

Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance retail is all set to take offline players like EasyDay, Big Bazaar and others before taking on global players in e-commerce market.  There has been lot of buzz around the country that Reliance Jio’s network will play a key factor in pushing e-commerce Reliance Retail. 

However, there is a twist in the business plan, before going global. They will sell products directly to kirana stores using online platform rather than selling it to customers. The smaller shop can buy all the supplies from the reliance platform at cheaper rates as compared to others.

The biggest advantage to all the small shop owners is that they can avail cash back and other discounts that will give them some aid to stand against the bigger players in the market which was not the case before.

Mobile app for Merchants

Currently, Reliance Jio’s Hybrid Online to offine platform is under beta testing stage with pilot projects in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune and Kolkata. 

The platform can be used by all the Jio Prime members where the merchants have to sign up and place their respective order for items such as fruits, vegetables and other groceries which can be then sold at their stores. 

The unique feature about the app is that, complete list of inventories can be managed using this app. The portal also includes a software tool for goods and services tax (GST) that will help the all merchants a big time. Other feature which makes the app future ready is that they also run promotional programmes like loyalty coupons using which one can attract customers. 

Into the future 

Soon, the app will be available onto the Reliance’s MYJio app where merchants can sell supplies directly to the customers. As the project is under development stages this will take some time, and once it’s done the app can be used by all the merchants where every the Reliance Jio’s Platform will be available. 

According to the company’s reports, Reliance income increased from Rs. 69, 198 crores in 2017-18 to 130,556 crore in 2018-19, which is 89% of rise in the income. Reliance Fresh, SMART and Reliance Market stores also performed better.  The company reports states that they are the first company in the retrial market to have more than 10,000 stores across 6,600 cities.
