Ashok Leyland in partnership with ABB Power Products and Systems India informed that they are venturing into public electric mobility space. The collaboration is working on a plan to develop an electric bus that can be recharged within no time. The aim of this partnership is to encourage environment-friendly electric buses for daily commute in India.
Ashok Leyland with the use of ABB’s ingenious flash charge technology, TOSA, can charge the battery in seconds as passengers move in and out of the bus. The plan if fructified will help the company to increase passenger-carrying capacity with maintaining minimum no. of buses.
N Venu, MD of ABB Power Products and Systems India said, “We are pushing the boundaries of e-mobility with our flash-charging technology TOSA for buses to contribute to a cleaner, greener and sustainable future.” This project has a straight objective that is to provide public transportation with zero levels of emission that has the ability to carry significantly more passengers.
TOSA enabled electric buses for better commute
N Saravanan, Chief Technology Officer, Ashok Leyland emphasized the point that to remain competitive in the local and international market the company has collaborated with ABB. This enables Ashok Leyland to use TOSA, the well-known technology for powering e-buses. This will help the company to move forward with the vision of expanding its business to the electric vehicle sector.
He said, “ This solution of the flash charge technology, which enables charging the battery in seconds is another example of us delivering on our brand promise of ‘your win is our win’.” TOSA is world-renowned for its fast charging capabilities. It can charge the vehicles just in 15 seconds up to 600 kilowatts.
