A recent survey was conducted across 2,000 respondents from 12 different cities across India to measure people’s perception about the concept of Internet of Things (loT).

Surprisingly, 91.1% of Indians are eager to experience the digital reality of loT where their daily routine lives will be simplified. A place where they would be able to scan and organize their home appliances in actual time.

Tata Communications, a global service provider of telecommunications, had reported that “While only 14.2 per cent of the respondents are completely aware of the concept of loT, over a third (34.6 per cent) associate it primarily with smartphones. Only 14.5 per cent of the respondents currently associate loT with improved public services and 9.6 per cent believe loT could help enhance access to public services.”

It is rightly said that, “home is where the heart is.” And, hence large number of people want to observe notable changes by loT devices in their home environments.

As per the survey statistics, large number of men are rather tensed about leaving the lights switched on than women. When it comes to running daily errands, both males (51%) and females (50%) trust that loT can make their lives simpler and more organized. Almost 75.3% of people are elevated and ready to fund in digital technology where they no longer have to worry about simpler  tasks such as refilling the refrigerator with regular supplies.

Healthcare is one of the most digitally revolutionizing sectors that has rapidly evolved. 81.2% of people are ready to acknowledge the fact that their offspring’s records should be instantly recorded, updated and immediately become accessible to any doctor around the globe. Therefore, health care area becomes undoubtedly a favorite among 29.1% respondents, closely followed by a 28.7% decline of traffic jams and lowering of various environmental pollutions.

Senior Vice President and Head Internet of Things VS Shridhar, Tata communications stated that, “loT has the power to make our lives less stressful, fire the engines of productivity, reduce energy consumption, improve health care, and create new disruptive business models. Yet, there needs to be a greater awareness of the many ways in which loT could change society for the better and make it safer too. Greater awareness will help spur demand for new IoT services.”

Promotion and endorsement rates of loT technologies are different for divergent economies. In a developing country like India, there has been a gradual yet rapid growth and usage of loT based technology.
